Together with Matthew B., he has traveled America in Matthew’s 18-wheeler.

The couple is incredibly close, but tragedy struck last July when Ashes disappeared from the truck while Matthew was stopping at a truck stop in Springfield, Ohio.
Matthew searched for his friend, but couldn’t find them. Ashes was far from home, with no trace.
Matthew was heartbroken to continue without Ashes.
He eventually drove off, but in the following months, he strategically planned his routes to return to the spot where he lost Ashes in order to search for him again.

He refused to quit, and neither did Ashes. Matthew hoped to find Ashes again, while Ashes focused on staying alive.
For months, a woman named Kimberley T. found a skinny cat in the bushes. Kimberley took Smokey, a freezing and malnourished kitty, to Lollypop Farm in Newport, NY.
At Lollypop Farm, they discovered that “Smokey” was actually Ashes when they checked for a microchip.

Matthew couldn’t believe it when he received the call after five months of Ashes being missing. He changed his route again and went to New York, where Ashes awaited him.

When they reunited, Matthew couldn’t help but cry and Ashes was thrilled to see his cat-dad again.
Matthew’s and Ashes happy ending emphasizes the necessity of microchipping our pets. “It’s the microchip that saved him.”

“The women saved his life, but the microchip brought him home,” Matthew told Lollypop Farm.
Now, Ashes and Matthew are reunited and on the road. Never separated again.
